Elon Musk’s Insidious New Strategy to Help Trump Win

Elon Musk is collecting personal data from people in swing states under the guise of helping them register to vote.

The TikTok War: Why High School & College Kids Are Getting The Wrong Information about Hamas & Israel I spent the weekend trying to reverse engineer the TikTok algorithm, as I am convinced this is the reason we're losing the information war with high school & college students.

As Twitter is melting down (once again), we have many new users coming in here at Toad.Social. All are welcome.

I am committing to break significant news here first, and only later on Twitter, henceforth.

My team and I are heads down working on significant new stories, so may be a bit quieter than usual, but we'll be making sure you have a good experience here.

Thanks for being part of this community, and for your commitment to truth and journalistic integrity.

@Teri_Kanefield Congrats to your son!

My shorthand for the approach we most need in election coverage is this:

"Not the odds, but the stakes."

How does this work in practice? Margaret Sullivan answers that in The Guardian today. "Now’s the time to think about just how bad a DeSantis presidency would be."

Not how DeSantis plans to outwit Trump and then succeed in "the general" (itself an insidery phrase...) but what life would be like if he took power.

Not the odds, but the stakes.

Now’s the time to think about just how bad a DeSantis presidency would be

Consider what the two-term governor has wrought in his home state and in his early forays into world affairs

President Biden cites facts that white supremacy terror is America’s greatest domestic security threat—and MAGAs lose their minds.

Here’s the thing.

I’m Muslim. I don’t feel attacked when people condemn the Taliban because Taliban do not represent Muslims and I proudly take the lead in condemning Taliban terrorism.

If you’re MAGA white and feel personally attacked when Biden condemns white supremacy terror—you are absolutely telling on yourself.

FOX made up a story of “Veterans kicked out of hotel to make room for migrants” while simultaneously supporting MAGA debt budget which cuts Veterans benefits by 22%.😳

They’re more outraged over a fake story about evil brown migrants than the real story of evil greedy billionaires.😑

Modern day white supremacy in all its ugliness.

@Avenger1100 @latimeralder Blimey! Not another one. 🙄 #ClimateBrawl
#ClimateCrisis is very real. People are dying and our ecosphere is being changed, not for the better!

6 Big Findings from the IPCC 2022 Report on Climate Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability

To read WRI's summary of the 2023 IPCC report, visit this article.  The newest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) paints a troubling picture: Climate change is already impacting every corner of the world, and much more severe impacts are in store if we fail to halve greenhouse gas emissions this decade and immediately scale up adaptation.
