I love Otter for meeting transcriptions, but sometimes it's like reading that uncanny kind of copy that has been translated word for word from another language
"Only the future can take the present for its own and keep it alive by surpassing it."

Things I love on a mild January Saturday:
1) dropping by the public library
2) picking up a free bookmark in Arabic, which is one of the languages I'm learning
3) using the AR camera in Google Translate to show the text translated in real time
4) appreciating the meta-ness of how a feature like this really is like a library for everyone
Whew! It was a bit of race at the end but what a rush. I'll write up some of the highlights tomorrow. I will say, though, that my favorite book that I read this year was Seven Brief Lessons on Physics by Carlo Rovelli. Beautiful, grand, educational, inspiring.

Retooted from MarkDLevine over on Twitter:
"History made today in Central Park:

For the first time since 1862, a gate to the park has been renamed. The entrance at 5th Ave & 110th St. is now "Gate of the Exonerated", commemorating the Central Park Five and all those wrongly convicted.

Honored to take part in this event."

Hey look! @robbiequinn is here.

Went to Grand Central to have coffee with a friend I haven’t seen since pre-pandemic; walked the whole way, largely along 5th Avenue, taking in the holiday sights and browsing the holiday market vendors.

Then stopped to pick up lunch at Urban Hawker — Singapore-street-food-style (vegan Jakarta bowl shown). Incredible.

Tonight, going to see the opening of a play my friend wrote the music for.

In other words, this is the kind of day other days aspire to be.

Hope yours is great too.

I've been super-committed to getting the most out of every tech device I've owned, for the sake of responsible stewardship of the minerals and labor it takes to make them, and so on. But after dropping my iPhone X on the sidewalk last night, I think even I finally have to admit it's time to move on. (Although the touchscreen still works fine through the Scotch tape! But possibly this edges me past "responsibly eccentric" over into "weird.")
Grateful to Gartner for a lovely experience in Kochi, for entrusting me to deliver value, and for delivering such a warm and welcoming audience. Not bad for my first #GartnerSym experience; can't wait to come back.
