@DHeadshot cmus has some nice tools like good filtering and categorization tools, an easy to use play queue and I like the terminal interface, because I sometimes run my machine in tty only mode and I still want music. Also there's some nice support for scripting cmus with cmus-remote and it's own internal plugin stuff. There's nothing wrong with VLC, but to me it's better suited as a general media player than to managing a big music library.
Hey, I moved from @kalium to this account right here, because that's shutting down in a few weeks! I'm here now! It'll take me a few days to get set up here proper but in the mean time I have officially moved here.

@patterfloof MPD always looks hella neat and my friends highly recommend it but I got cmus setup goddammit and I like the UI.

Knowing programmers there's an MPD frontend that behaves exactly like cmus that I just haven't heard about.

my usual solution for remote music has always just been sshing in to the machine playing music and using my various control aliases which isn't bad, but this is certainly a little neater.

oh dang @kde 's KDEConnect is a very good program actually.

Easy sharing of files/clipboard across phone/desktop, media control with MPIRS, notification sync, run arbitrary pre-selected commands, find my phone, use phone as trackpad/keyboard, the whole shebang.

i think a good way of looking at why berries.space being archived is *bad* is to compare it to IRC logs, honestly.

would *you* want *your* IRC logs from *your* teenage years popping back up today? would you be *mortified* by that?

archiving berries.space ensured that some years from now, those kids would be mortified. and don't bother arguing that it wouldn't have, because these things have a way of floating back up to the surface.

everyone can say blah blah blah opsec blah blah blah, but i think there's a time and place.

yes, everyone should think about opsec. but at the same time, we should let kids be kids and have terrible opsec. sometimes, making friends who have the same problems you do is more important than opsec, and they shouldn't be punished for that.

anyway, that's all i am going to say on this one.

Survived back to back Law and Embedded Systems so that's 75% of my exams for this semester over. I'm starting to feel the effects of slightly overdoing the stimulants for the past four days and this crash will be Distinctly Unpleasant.

Fun fact my next/last exam is in two weeks
