Hi, I'm new here. I work as a software tester, and I also program industrial robots. I'm the creator of a simple CMS Blog on Rails, and I'm working on other smaller projects. I'm looking for interesting people to follow.
Searching for the first job with rails backend

I’m now trying to find my first role as a developer. It’s not easy even when I have more than 10 years in the tech industry behind me. First as a web development (wordpress and HTML) and later as a QA engineer. The manager before hiring a junior rightly fears that they will teach a new member of the team to program and while the programmer will be effective so they will pay him for nothing.

Documentation update: work has begun

Improving Rails documentation is one of the core pillars of why the Rails Foundation was formed, so we are pleased to share an update on how that mission is progressing.

The RailsWorld Times 😂😂😂

Alan Turing was a mathematician & cryptographer who was a leading code-breaker in the team that decrypted Nazi Germany’s Enigma machine during WWII. He inspired modern computing & what became AI.

Instead of being hailed as a genius & hero, Turing was convicted as a homosexual & forced to endure chemical castration. He died by suicide at 41 in 1954.

The British government didn’t apologize until 2009 & Queen Elizabeth II finally pardoned him in 2013. #history #science

Our 10yr old has gotten ***REALLY*** into mechanical watches & clocks to the point he's on the verge of starting a side gig repairing them. He mentions his hobby to everyone, and a lot of folks have a not-quite-working item sitting around. He's fixed a number of them.

He has had a tough time with an civil war era pocket watch, but was finally able to salvage a compatible part from somewhere, and he got it ticking today. He was so proud, and wants to share with everyone.

#GoogleIO revealed the two weirdest features as a pair.

1. Give a short summary and Google will draft an e-mail for you based on it. You can even click "elaborate" and it will make the e-mail longer.

2. When opening an e-mail, Gmail can summarize the entire thing for you so you don't have to read all of it.

Does everyone realize how fucking bizarre this is?

Both people in the conversation want to work with directness and brevity, and Google is doing textual steganography in the middle.

I don't mind posting slides online, but I feel like slides without the context of the talk doesn't have as much value. If slides were all you need, why give the talk?

Please stop posting AI-generated answers to StackOverflow. Please. Most are just low-quality. Some are filled with subtle mistakes. If the asker wanted an AI-generated answer, they would have gone to an AI, not SO. You typing it into ChatGPT for them helps no one.

And they tend to be really obviously AI-generated. It's not as hard to notice the style as I thought it would be. ChatGPT doesn't write like most SO contributors. So I throw the question in myself, and see if I get answers like yours.

Wild. NPR quit Twitter. I wish NPR had an official Mastodon account, though I guess I can still follow them the old fashioned way: by tuning in to my local affiliate station 😆 https://www.wbur.org/npr/1169269161/npr-leaves-twitter-government-funded-media-label
NPR quits Twitter after being labeled as 'state-affiliated media' | WBUR

NPR's official Twitter feeds have gone silent. The news organization cites the social media platform's decision to label NPR as "state-affiliated media."
