Crazy cat gentleman.

And...I'm migrating my presence to @juphoff, which is a new Mastodon instance that two other pilot+techie colleagues and I have set up for aviation. There's a very active #AvGeek community on Twitter, and we're trying to ensure it has a safe landing somewhere. [ahem]

@waldoj FTX crossed a line with me when they started advertising with a patch on MLB umpires’ uniforms. First time for that—now I fear it’ll wind up turning into NASCAR.

(I know it’s really more MLB’s fault, but I’ve already done that rant.)

@waldoj @griesar A couple friends and I are setting up an instance for the aviation community. Hosting costs are covered ‘cause…um…well, we know a guy. ;)
@emmotto That screen cap was of my follows & followers--showing you as someone I'm following.
@waldoj Could have been someone else's Accord...and he stole it.
@griesar @waldoj My understanding is that their initial commitments to the deal, when the tender offer was first made, didn't allow them to back away, so they were stuck glued to him once this thing headed toward litigation. Due diligence early on was probably along the lines of, "Look at how much money he's made already running companies." So much capital flows based upon reputation, "experience," and hand-shaking...
@waldoj I have to agree. Unlike Facebook, which I quit years ago, Twitter has been a huge net positive in my life. I've many friends I first met on there--the early C'ville tweet-up social scene was *great*--plus, more recently, it's been what got me back into aviation after a long hiatus; there's a thriving avgeek community full of incredibly inspiring people.

@waldoj Around the same time, I decided to read web pages by scripting a telnet to port 80 of the server and dumping the GET to the terminal. Browsers had become annoying with fonts and blinks and animated images.

Also didn’t scale. :)

Site seems very slow...getting swamped by refugees from Twitter, I'm guessing?
