ChatGPT Atlas and other AI browsers make me depressed about the increasing depersonalization of content creation. Why share a recipe online if an AI browser is just going to scrape the ingredients and steps, cutting out the need connect in some way with the creator? why write anything? it's all just AI fodder now.

The degree of friction I have with Siri is getting more and more frustrating because every other platform is more capable. Last night, I asked Siri to open Audible, which is on my iPhone. First, Siri on HomePod responded, so I had to physically activate Siri on my iPhone. I ask again, and great, Siri opens the app. I tell Siri "play this" and Siri starts playing music from Apple Music.

Okay but why?!

Last night at 8:51 p.m., I ordered some vitamins. Between that time and 1:03 a.m., they sent me SIX emails. That is an absurd number of emails to send and it'll be my first and last order. I'm so annoyed I'd cancel the order if I could.

So most AI help is pretty bad, but my hvac company has a rather realistic sounding AI receptionist that was functional enough to schedule me an appointment for tomorrow. I don’t like AI phone services but I also don’t like talking to people on the phone, so I guess this one was a win

I'm skeptical of round icons in iOS 19. It doesn't look good, it cuts down on tappable space for each icon, and it's too similar to Android. Round icons work well on visionOS where there are no boundaries, but make less sense for a rectangular display. I think one of the most important takeaways from @gruber's article on how stupid Siri continues to be is that everyone should check out Kagi. I swapped to it full time after getting frustrated with Google's search results, and it's so much better. I don’t want to wear computers on my face, like ever. That's what I learned from Vision Pro and also AI this year. Not the Vision Pro, not eventual Apple smart glasses, not Apple contact lenses. I don't need screens closer to me and I definitely don't need a more constant AI presence.
