@Merovius @Merovius I ended up using a mid-tier chromebook for end of undergrad/start of grad school and really got my money's worth out of it...

great battery efficiency tho they can't really do much that doesn't run on google chrome (or another browser), but if you are mostly using it for the occasional email or ssh, it's a pretty reliable "in between laptops" laptop and a good one is only USD $300-400 (they tend to go on sale 2-3x/ year)

..just in case you need a backup
