I just saw a rich person in a German talk show complaining that everyone was always talking about climate change, but no one was ever talking about solutions. Fact is, they were proposing lots of solutions, he just didn’t like them.

Making Women’s Day a holiday works for people who have regular employment and no care work (you don’t get time off from that- plus schools and day care are closed, too). How about this: Instead of making it a bank holiday, only women get the day off. Or, all women get extra help that day, so they can actually take the day off. Just saying. I would have a much better time today, if I could actually use this day to do something I want to do instead of trying to find a way to entertain my kid.

While I’m here: the debate in Germany about the losers who may need to apply for „bürgergeld“ doesn’t take into account the large number of academics on fixed contracts that are exploited by colleges and universities or the vast majority of journalists who work as freelancers for publications that pay by line rather than content. I’m not even going to mention most artists, musicians, or writers. What Im saying is: it’s not just those without a degree that can’t make ends meet.
