Android Studio Flamingo went stable today!

Also, we also announced that starting with Giraffe, the Kotlin DSL will now be the default build script for new projects:

(There's also experimental support for version catalogs, which is a much better way to manage dependencies than buildSrc and other similar tricks!)

I've been prototyping a Swipeable/ModalBottomSheetState progress API too since the way we expose the progress changed a bit with the recent refactoring. What do folks think about this API? Does it fit your use case?
Compose Material 1.5.0-alpha01 ships with a bugfix for an edge case crash on screen rotation, and also makes using animation APIs like animateContentSize work smoothly. This was the last big bugfix on our list - up next we're now stabilizing the M2 bottom sheet APIs (along with other components like SwipeToDismiss).
It all took some time but this allowed us to address the issues at a foundational level and should be worth it in the long run!
Google is an amazing place to work for the most part. But the layoffs announced in January still have not been completed in the UK (and some other countries) yet, and I don't know whether my job (or my colleagues') is safe. Let's hope I'll get to see another Googleversary!
Didn't get to tweet about this on Mon but I passed the one year mark at Google! Working on Compose has been super fun and I'm glad I was able to bring some quality of life improvements. The team is amazing too, with special thanks to my manager!
