How long before Chinese, Russian, and Iranian state-backed accounts start making money off Twitter--or at least trying to?

I've already seen a handful of diplomatic and state media accounts use features that are exclusive to Twitter Blue subscribers.

RT touting that it is now being carried by an Indian TV provider and two satellites that allow it to reach audiences in North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.

This is part of a continued push by Russian propagandists into regions beyond the transatlantic space.

Here are the ten most retweeted Russian propaganda Twitter accounts over the past week. Six of them are diplomatic accounts. It's wild how much of a boost diplomatic accounts get every time Putin gives a speech.

Politico says it’s fine to push ads with climate disinfo because readers should be smart enough to know that Politico could push misleading ads.

This via the Heated newsletter, which is great.

Inosmi, which is labeled as Russian state media by Twitter and Facebook, is still active and unlabeled on YouTube, where it's posting clips of Tucker Carlson that have been translated to Russian.

This Tucker clip from 4 days ago has 638k views.

Kremlin-linked media yesterday was complaining that Meta took down the page for RT in Russian. The page is active now, though, so it's not clear what happened. What we do know is that RT in Russian has been bleeding followers for the past year.
Interesting to see RT's English-language site plugging its rutube channel, which only has 2.5K followers. Its rumble account has 78K and its Odysee has 57K.

A lot of Russian propaganda relies on Twitter.

RT articles embed more links from Twitter than any other site. Here's the top external URLs found in RT articles since the full-scale invasion began on Feb 24. Instagram, Telegram, and YouTube are also on the list.
