I'm a millennial dude living in Calgary, Canada. I love the outdoors. Looking forward to winter and ski season.

@g_hoges Can you get a thread tap from anywhere just in case?

#WaterfallWednesday eh?

I've always enjoyed this little short video of Will Gadd at Helmcken Falls, BC

"THIS WAY" Episode 4 - Spray Ice

This feels appropriate for the second thing I've ever posted to mastodon.

@jamiejumbledup Yeah, I like it just fine. They're probably slower than non-studded equivalents, but in the cold, on ice and snow you aren't cycling for speed anyway. I find they are useful for ice. For snow alone, any old knobby mtb tire will do, and once the snow is deep enough you're in fatbike territory anyway.

We get our fair share of ice around here, and I've wiped out more than once because of it, so for me it's way worth it.

@jamiejumbledup I am a newcomer to studded tires this year in Calgary and they have already been worth the purchase.
Now it's been a week or 2 since the last snowfall and most of the pavement is dry again; that said they are still useful in the slippery /icy spots.
Otherwise they are kinda noisy and I wonder how the dry pavement is accelerating the stud wear - I think I can still re-stud them, if it comes to that.

I just learned how to effectively mute hashtags and my feed is so much better for it.
