Time for the 4th cat introduction: Matilda! Or Tilly, or MaTilly, or MaTizzleToes… Is she an otter or is she a cat? Who can say!

All our cats are rescues of some variety, but Tilly and her brother Squizzy were born into a loving foster home before we adopted them, and so have never known a day of hardship in their lives. Tilly is Anise’s baby girl. She’s very clever and does actually love a belly rub, though this turned out to be a trap

Ok, so it seems like I’m introducing a cat a day on here and today it’s Daisy’s turn!

Daisy came into our lives at the start of Melbourne’s lockdowns, when we moved to a new house and she was in the backyard…and didn’t leave. At the time we thought she was pregnant, but it turned out she had already had her kittens and our landlord had surrendered them to council.

Daisy, we are told, is Diego’s GRANDMA! She comes from the same neglectful neighbour (who is aware that we have been taking in her cats). Because she pretty much fended for herself for the first ~2 years of her life, she’s semi-feral (she doesn’t look it and she’s come a long way since we took her in, but you can’t take the wild out of the girl, y’know).

She is objectively the prettiest girl in the world, though this picture doesn’t really capture that. She loves playing “shoelace”, especially when I let her use my slippers

Today is Tifa’s 13th birthday.  Like a true Scorpio, she is an agent of the dark side, full of secrets, but also secretly a big smooch. She is very mad at me for taking selfies with her but too bad baby!

A year ago today our neighbour’s rather neglected cat showed up at our back door after being hit by a car. We’d already been caring for him and this was the final straw - we took him in. Fortunately, his injuries were minor (considering) and he recovered fully.

Not only that, but over the past year Diego has gone from being a stinky underweight hyperactive gremlin to a gloriously fluffy chonky boy with a heart of gold. He’s learned to be gentle when he plays, to respect boundaries, and to come home when he’s called. He is the goodest garbage leopard around
