Watching this video about Kiki's Delivery Service English dubbing, and halfway through it turns into a sociological analysis of the gift economy, and of how capitalism twists our minds so much that gifts become an almost alien concept.

Absolutely fantastic. It's also made me realize a gift economy is how I want to build community around me. No worrying about monetary value. Just caring about the folks around you.

@morten_skaaning @castano yup, my wife has been on chlorozoxazone + amitryptiline for 6 weeks now because of a pinched nerve on her back. The amitryptiline works great for the pain, but then she needs 2-3 hour naps every day 😔

Human bodies are pretty crap sometimes. Where do we get a refund?

@castano right now I have my hands full, but hopefully during July things will calm down a bit and I can try it out. It might be interesting for our screenshot autotest infrastructure
@castano are you planning on releasing your implementation by any chance?

@dotstdy rust-analyzer takes >12GB of RAM on a 300 line program I'm working on lately.

It seems to get confused about a directory where there are several thousand json files, and adding that dir to the gitignore doesn't help 🤦🏻‍♂️

Had a whacky dream tonight. Dreamt I met these two wholesome guys that had been race car drivers in the 70's.

They were famous because they couldn't stand seeing broken cars, so they would stop to fix other cars in the middle of a race. Like one time when they stopped to fix Dolly Parton's car and she won the race.

Also, one of them was the driver, the other one was the _bongo player_. The bongo player was there "to keep the driver honest, so he doesn't drive too risky and ends up dying".

@dotstdy honestly I don't see how not using async is a hot take. Async in rust is a bloody nightmare for any piece of software that isn't just basically responding to incoming network requests
@aeva wife is still using an email account that begins with "ana666", that she made when she was 14. Leads to interesting looks when giving her address to the preschool teachers, for example
@dotstdy it's nice seeing that the file format I used for my tiled game levels in the year 2000 is still alive because it's unbeatable in usability
@dotstdy I love how it's always "clients didn't understand our product", and it's never "we built the wrong thing, clients realized, and bought something that worked for them instead"
