Electronic Musician, Coder (C#, TS at the moment). #RDGUK

@eobet @troed @pluralistic

If we end up saying "enpoopification", we've lost.

@cstross Not long after stopping for beers there some years ago I somehow found out that it featured in some book called Accelerando and I had to read it. Top marketing.
@PaulaMaddox that used to be the pattern RAM was initialised to (on PC not Transputer, but I think it was a common thing after memory tests) so that sounds like the write has failed to my unqualified brain.

@Moss Not a Mac guy but I think it all still applies...

I don't think the rental problem has hit the soft synth world much. Roland are the only ones who come to mind.

By out of date do you mean modelling old technology or just not updated recently? Either way check out Arturia's Pigments which is astonishingly flexible and easy to use.

@simontatham @anselmschueler
But C++ is an incremented (bigger) C so surely exactly analogous to pico/nano (even if it has a C in it)?

And if you buy that C# was supposedly C++++ with the plusses in a pile so the same logic applies.

Wish you hadn't started this?

@Gogledd Hey, we are SERIOUS Electronic Musicians don't you know?
@PaulaMaddox That is very sad. It's a lovely thing. My single rack was acquired by a completely chaotic accident and there's no way I could justify what it costs now.

@RichardJMurphy

If they really believed this, they could just slap a massive tax on non-sustainable aviation fuel. It would encourage everyone to move and hurry up the development. Everyone wins.

Unless...

(after someone's suggestion in the Gruan...)

@mooseallain.bsky.social Or Sooty. In space no one can hear you.

@cstross When I started my first job at ICL we were given our floppy. Just the one, with our initials on a label. Not that we did much with it, it was for saving what our admin typed for us on her (of course her) word processor.

Times changed rapidly. I'm not sure mine ever got used.
