A strange flotilla of flotsam in the bay, seen on Wednesday just off of the fishing pier near Crissy Field (a.k.a Torpedo Wharf).

A gull kept landing on it, pecking at it, and maybe even eating some of it.

I couldn't tell whether it was plastic or something else. Some parts seem to be transparent, with fibrous material within, suggesting garbage bags.

A favorite tree, having grown for decades from a tiny triangle of soil between two houses, pushes forth on a new year.

It's against the rules to sit on the sidewalk (the planters are intended to enforce that!) but it's just fine to warehouse your merchandise on the sidewalk.
