i went with steyer for governor. i don't like that he's a billionaire, but i'm very sick of centrist dems like newsom. i have to go for the progressive candidate here.

i voted mostly with acgreens otherwise, except for alameda county measure E, which looks like a homeless-sweeps bill to me.

LLM advocates still don’t seem to be able to comprehend that ordering the machine not to ‘make stuff up’ doesn’t help. It doesn’t know when it’s making stuff up, and it couldn’t change that even if you told it to. (In fact it’s always just making stuff up, and is only ever true by chance.)

Part of why I’m so negative about them is that their advocates simply do not understand how they work and do not seem to want to.

This. The democratic functions of _verification_, _deliberation_ and _accountability_ are at play here. If people can't check, if deliberation is manufactured consensus, and accountability is in in name only, you've hollowed out democracy.

I think @gvwilson once called something like this "the fuckit number", the number of package managers you need to install with other package managers to get from a clean system to something that builds.

The correct number is zero. If your project has a fuckit number larger than two, fuck it.
