Open source fan, have been on Mastodon since 2018, but things are livening up with the current twitter dumpster fire.

Happy to engage with people on all manner of topics. Stong opinions loosely held. Be kind. Leave the place better than you found it.

Trying to help with all-the-ops in the not always public parts of public service.

It's only 0.50c, I guess I should be happy that there isn't a ticket fee fee, or a ticket fee fee fee.

My Synology NAS box failed this week, after 4 years of faithful service.

While preparing for the painful purchase of and data recovery to another unit, I discovered that many of them fail because of an Intel processor bug. One 5 cent resistor and a bit of soldering and everything is awesome again.

While all is well now, it has prompted me to improve my off site and large disaster recovery plan.

My 12YO covered Pascal's triangle at school today, so after dinner it was a quick session with pen, paper and python!

Went to get some ice for a drink last night, discovered my 12 YO has been recreating "some legend he read about":

He who removes the (katana) from the (block of ice) shall become (King of lego)

Cat-pad installed above mouse-pad. Seems to be a success....
