'“WE will decide the fate of our Country – NOT some out-of-control, Radical Left AI company run by people who have no idea what the real World is all about,” Trump wrote.'

So: in Trump's world, being against mass domestic surveillance and completely autonomous deadly weapons is something to do with being "Radical Left" and being out of touch with reality.

Truly deranged. He despises anyone with backbone or principles. They don't need anything more than that to merit his vengeance.

'The company had grown concerned in recent months about the government potentially using its AI tools, like Claude, in what it described as "mass surveillance" and "fully autonomous weapons". '

This is an incredibly inaccurate statement from BBC News. Those were the ethical terms of sale from Anthropic of their product, and they refused to budge or be bullied into changing them.

Genuinely stunned by how the BBC summarised this. "In what it described as?" Borders on devious misrepresentation.

What a coward Putin makes every Russian look, slinking around administering rare poisons through middlemen. And what a potential Navalny gave every Russian to prove the opposite. I can't remember being so impressed by someone's bravery and defiant humour.

Russia killed opposition leader Alexei Navalny using toxin from dart frog, UK says

There is no innocent explanation for the toxin being found in samples taken from Navalny's body, Foreign Office says.

Just to register my complete and total disgust with the recent deranged behaviours Don Trump of Orange Baby has been exhibiting. A truly erratic leader emboldened in power is a thing that requires constant protest, and nothing more, to solve. But it does require it, strongly. People have the power.

Pure sense and integrity, and a reminder of admirable American values. And sickening how blatant Trump’s legal connivings are. Americans need to defend the rights of officials like Powell to stand their ground, or they’ll be completely overrun with sycophants.

Just your reminder that Alexei Navalny was murdered about two years ago, and his spirit lives strong.

He was murdered by the Russian state.

What a fucking surprise.

Jimmy Lai convicted in Hong Kong national security trial

Jimmy Lai, the former Hong Kong media mogul and outspoken critic of Beijing, has been convicted in a landmark national security trial in the city’s court. Three government-vetted judges on Monday found Lai, 78, guilty of conspiring with others to collude with foreign forces to endanger national security and conspiracy to publish seditious articles. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. Under Hong Kong’s sweeping national security law, Lai could face up to life imprisonment. A mitigation hearing was set for January. His family said they were saddened but not surprised by the verdict.

Possibly the most pathetic and corrupt thing I can imagine a POTUS saying while in office.

The only real solution would be one that embraced a patchwork of "small" teams in protected (yes, regulated) competition. Or, see every cool thing become shit or die.

Enshitification is so very real, but it's funny seeing how people are now clearly perceiving it but not able to properly explain the cause.

It's a combination of popular appeal past a certain point (users), teams growing beyond a certain point (creators), the influx of people into areas for completely self-interested reasons (creators not naturally selected based on passion), and the effect of commerce demanding constant growth and with it, increasing risk aversion over time. A super combo.
