I've used OpenWRT, and variants of it, since about 2014. I most recently purchased an ASUS TUF AX6000 and installed OpenWRT on it, to run a wireguard client; I need a fast router for encrypted VPN at 1Gbps.

OpenWRT supports *hundreds* of routers. You get a lot more fine grained control.

For example, you can better customise SQM traffic shaping e.g. Cake/fq_codel. It has nice VLAN features...

I mean. It's Linux. It's the power of Linux. They make running a Linux router easier for mere mortals.

@naturepoker @libreleah I've always been afraid of using a phone charger in case something got fried... is your phone charger USB-C PD enabled? Or is it just a regular 5V charger?
@mntmn @Fairphone Got mine ~8 months ago. Very sturdy device, awesome screen. I use it without a case... which does not bode well with the aluminium frame, since it gets scratched very easily. Otherwise, pretty happy with it!
@mntmn I'm not familiar with how crowdfunding campaigns work... what happens after funding period finishes (assuming target amount is reached)? No more orders would be accepted?
@mntmn Trackball still possible?
@mntmn that much silver color casing reminds me of U-3PO protocol droid in Star Wars.

@josch @istar What Thinkpad did you have?

I'm still using my good old X200 with libreboot and IPS screen upgrade. Though Reform Next will be its replacement I'm afraid...

@mntmn I'd be surprised if regulators let that happen, for the same reason they stopped Nvidia buying Arm
