@SharkAttak I still have an old eee-pc which I modded to charge via USB-C, with an SSD and Debian. Too old to use for dev, but it’s great for light web browsing.
@nazokiyoubinbou it is expensive. But it is built like a tank, with modular parts, and of course extremely user serviceable. So I could see it actually ending up cheaper in the long run than changing laptops completely every few years or so. I will be interested to see how many are still around in 10-15 years.
@MartiniMoe possibly parts of it were prototype? It was at their workshop, and I don’t have anything to compare it to.
@cR0w model collapse.
90s HP 200LX (80186 1MB RAM) + open source hardware #MNT Pocket Reform. I’m glad someone is still thinking of this form factor: very small but still usable for software development. #retrocomputing #retro #opensource #hardware
@mntmn that’s actually a good reason to support you and the team even more. I’ve got my eyes on a Pocket for when I next start a project that will justify it.
Technology sucks now because it's become almost purely a vehicle for parting investors from their capital and nothing else
Tinylisp language written in the 2020s, compiled and running on a 90s pocket computer. Now this computer can run any software I write in Lisp (until runs out of memory). #vintagecomputer #retro #lisp #opensource #software

Wonderful lecture series from the 80s on the Lisp language, and how to think about programming and computer science at a fundamental level. https://youtu.be/-J_xL4IGhJA?is=1ofuZ_E1lEz5Hqf1
