If you want to see something crazy, the Urus People built floating islands made from reeds to be able to hide from the Inca, and they have maintained them by replacing the bottom layer that rots every 15-20 days for the last 600 years by placing a new layer on the top.
Look how thick the side photo is, and how they have entire villages, boats, EVERYTHING is made from basically a type of grass/weed, and it's an entire city floating on water.
