Other favorites include the original, House of Leaves; Borges' The Library of Babel; Aaron Reed's very cool procgen novel Subcutanean, every copy unique; and Naissancee, a game I adore and think about all the time.
Been playing Pools, and last night showed Mom the whole Backrooms series. It’s so good. I always found the monsters superfluous—the infinitely proliferating, indifferent, inhuman architecture is plenty thrilling and terrifying all on its own. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVAh-MgDVqvDUEq6qDXqORBioE4Yhol_z&si=gqRG09AfPz98gggB

Hastily snapped photo preparing to play some poker with Dave Grossman et al. at the delightful Skunkape party celebrating the Poker Night at the Inventory remaster, truly a highlight of my GDC week. As a cherry on top, I came in 2nd and took home this gorgeous 3-disc Sam & Max soundtrack vinyl! (Of my play, Dan Connors called me "very intimidating." 😆)

A few more GDC pics to share. This one was at the Latinx Game Awards, where Rosewater was up for Excellence in Narrative and Game of the Year (with the lovely Adam and Joe Riches of Robust Games along to cheer us on!)

@jesshaskins Get cracking, ya slacker!
Too busy enjoying the night to take any pics of my own, but just got back the few we took helping AP carry his IGF awards...more or less reverently. (I got to hold the Seumas McNally! It's heavy!)
According to these analytics, I just need to attend one major conference AND be nominated for (and win!) 2–6 prestigious industry awards every week, and I'll finally be on track with my social media performance goals! ✅🌟🚀
Excellent summary of the state of the NYC game scene and its challenges (plus being refreshingly clear-eyed about AI's utter failure to yield any perceptible benefits). I truly hope our new "gamer mayor" can improve on MOME's current efforts with a new focus on affordability for indies! https://aftermath.site/nyc-mayors-office-media-entertainment-video-games-affordable/
The Mayor’s Office Wants A More Affordable New York For Game Developers (And Everyone Else)

"[NYC's games scene] is thriving in the way where there's a lot of cool people, but no one's making any money"

2026: the year of the game editor? Three editors of IGF winners (me, Titanium Court; Matt Carney, Perfect Tides: Station to Station; Arden Ripley, Horses) enjoying the afterparty. Really lovely to see editors included and celebrated onstage with their teams!
