There are some words I never spell right the first time and I can never seem to internalize the correct spelling. Some examples:
- unnecessary (which consonants are doubles?)
- receive (i before e? e before i?)
- separate/maintenance (there are a's that are pronounced like e's in these words)

Do you pronounce (even a little bit) the “l” in the words “folk” or “yolk”?

It just clicked for me that lieutenant more or less literally means “placeholder” 🤯
