The Good: Cambridge's Affordable Housing Overlay has adding 400+ new homes to the affordable housing pipeline.

The Bad: intended as a _floor_ for affordable housing development, the Cambridge BZA has instead interpreted the AHO as a _ceiling_, rejecting projects like 2072 Mass Ave. proposed under 40B.

The Better: The 2022 AHO proposal responds to the BZA's absurd position, creating a more sensible zoning allowance given the lack of willingness to grant new 40B proposals.

Are there any meteorologists on Mastodon? I kind of miss obsessing about the weather every three minutes.
Do I know any cat lovers around Boston who will be in town over Christmas and want to help take care of my cats, including a diabetic one that requires insulin shots and glucose testing? Having a hard time finding anyone via the various pet watching services. #CatsOfBoston #Meow
oh and my Councilor @cllrkendralara too!
wow Mayor @wutrain and a few other #bospoli notables are on Mastodon on the better.boston instance so I guess this means I should move over there #mapoli
2009 vibes x 2022 grit 🙏
Should I stick with urbanists.social or switch over to better.boston? Do people ever have accounts on multiple instance (mostly just curious about the latter b/c I can't deal with what would functionally be multiple new socials).
I get that it's an intentional privacy thing and that Mastodon is designed to encourage smaller more connected networks than the birdsite, but I find that the difficulty following people here, especially from other instances, makes it harder to ramp up my engagement.
Using Twitter normally now - like following new people or posting about any topic besides its downfall - must be what it feels like to try to go about your normal life amidst a hostile alien takeover of Earth.

Hello, Urbanists of Mastodon!

We're the Welcoming Neighbors Network, a confederation of independent, place-based organizations advancing pro-housing policies through strategic, alliance-building campaigns.

Our members are ending the NIMBY stranglehold on housing and land use policy by building winning coalitions and passing transformative policy – creating a replicable playbook in the process.
