@mainframed767 I'm so mad because they did so much incredible work between Vista and Win10, then started sliding with the sponsored apps stuff, and just fully fell off a cliff with Win11 and ruined the experience.
Using Windows these days feels like I'm walking through a major airport. Its bright and glossy, there's ads everywhere, there's random noises and shit getting in your way, the signage is confusing and sometimes the pictorials make no sense, random announcements you can't understand, some of the design aesthetics are new, and some still stuck in the 00s.

Satisfying my unscientific curiosity here. Please boost for visibility.

I think it's very interesting that when the healthcare CEO was assassinated, it was a big blow up in media and large scale manhunt to find the person responsible and CEOs are protected class, this is TERRORISM!!!!!!

but then when an elected official is assassinated, and a manifesto is recovered making it very clear that it's politically motivated (by a right wing individual in a cop uniform), the media is suddenly very quiet. They report on Melissa Hortman's funeral, but not the efforts to find the person responsible, why that person was dressed as a cop and therefore allowed to get away by cops on the scene. No senators or governors are screaming on CNN about how this is terrorism and we must find the culprit and enact the death penalty.

That is the actual goal of a faction of the Republicans- LARPing the book of Revelations, thus specifically provoking war in the Middle East, plague, famine, etc.
As opposed to another faction which just wants to provoke a societal collapse so that they can emerge as the tech lords of a neo-feudal system where the reduced population will accept its servile role beneath them.
Hi Fediverse, I am looking for a job for someone fleeing from the USA to germany.
The person is versed in front- and backend developement, focused on vanilla js and angular, but willing to do anything in that area. Learning German atm, understanding German pretty good already.
Area Karlsruhe would be preferred.
Someone got anything?

Note to self: When starting doing something large and complicated in Visual Studio, regularly build and run in both Debug and Release configurations from the start, even while you are still very much debugging the stuff, so that you notice if the latter mysteriously doesn't work early enough.

Ever tried to build a #database for "names" for humans? And ran into exception over exception? Building a database for #Aviation data is equally complicated! There are more exceptions than rules.

Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Aviation

There are a lot of assumptions one could make when designing data types and schemas for aviation data that turn out to be inaccurate. In the spirit of Patrick McKenzie’s classic piece on names, here are some false assumptions one might make about aviation.
