I wish I could say that my 2+ decades studying impending social collapse has prepared me mentally and emotionally for imminent social collapse but sadly this is not the case.

- Mass deportations without trials
- Extrajudicial imprisonment in foreign concentration camps.
- National registry of autistic people, who are declared "nonproductive"
- Arrests of judges

History is rhyming pretty hard right now.

It's not hyperbole to say that some people you know and love will become sick or die because of what the Republicans did here.

I hope with all my heart that #Gaza gets a chance now to mourn, to bury its dead, and to begin addressing the needs of the living — starting with the food, shelter, and medicine that they should have had all along.

AP article on the right-wing disinformation being spread about the #wildfires.

Much of the misinformation is being spread “because it offers an opportunity to take potshots at California Democratic leadership while simultaneously distracting attention from the real contributing factors, especially the role of #climate change,” said Peter Gleick, senior fellow at the Pacific Institute, a nonprofit he co-founded that focuses on global water sustainability.

For LA water issues, misinformation spreads nearly as fast as the wildfires

A billionaire couple was accused of withholding water that could help stop Los Angeles’ massive wildfires. Democratic leadership was blamed for fire hydrants running dry and for an empty reservoir. Firefighters were criticized for allegedly using “women's handbags” to fight the fires. Such false or misleading claims, with a major focus on the city’s water supply, emerged amid general criticism about water management in California sparked by the fierce Los Angeles fires. And those are just a few of the deceptive claims. Misinformation has taken advantage of widespread fear and still unanswered questions, allowing those who spread it to further their own agendas.

@petergleick Was it treason for Reagan to coordinate with Iranian hostage takers to prevent the release of US citizens in order to harm Jimmy Carter's re-election bid?

Did Reagan Team’s Iran-Hostage Sabotage Defeat Jimmy Carter?

A shocking new tale has emerged from Ben Barnes that John Connally whispered to Iran to hold onto its U.S. hostages until Ronald Reagan was elected. But Carter lost for a lot of other reasons, particularly the economy.

Just to be clear, this blatant insult to a great American is entirely to assuage the delicate ego of a single, egotistical man and prevent a tantrum. No other reason.
