@ikuturso @imacrea @nicol @cwebber Interesting thread as well, thanks!
@nicol that‘s what I meant by heavy lifting. But I think that‘s actually a good compromise. For example, big providers like Threads, Mastodon and Bluesky could all run their own servers and apps, users could decide what servers and feed algorithms to use with what app, Threads could still choose to couple their app to their server for monetization, but you could easily move your identity while keeping your handle and social graph. 🤔
@nicol from my limited understanding, wouldn‘t it actually be cheaper to run your own, because the heavy lifting would be done more centralized while identity and data would be more portable?
@nicol that‘s quite a long article. But thanks, bookmarked it to read later.
@smallcircles interesting, thanks!
Starting to think Bluesky’s ATProtocol got a few things right that Mastodon and ActivityPub might have missed. Have a look at the “Why not use ActivityPub?” section in the ATProto FAQs. I think they make some compelling points. Is ATProto actually the better protocol for its intended purpose? #fediverse #atproto #bluesky #activitypub #mastodon https://atproto.com/guides/faq#why-not-use-activity-pub

#Kirby 5 dropped a couple of days ago. As a developer, it’s my go-to #CMS thanks to its lightweight footprint, endless flexibility, and especially its beautifully minimal admin panel, perfect for creating a consistent and intuitive editing experience for clients. https://getkirby.com/releases/5
