Go slowly and fix things.
OB/psych in regional VIC & Melbourne (power, status, influence).
The best people I know still have blind spots!

I've donated to the @datacolada #GoFundMe and made my name public.

I just want to say, also publicly, that my donation does NOT mean I feel certain that Francesca Gino committed fraud. I don't know what the truth is.

However, I do feel strongly that three individual scholars should not be facing a multimillion dollar lawsuit as a result of their scholarly activities.

I *also* believe that "data sleuths" have amassed a lot of scary power. We need a better system!

Dear small businesses: Please don't use facebook as your primary web page. It now requires you to login and some of us have no interest in doing so.

What my draft script said: "Other people are often a challenge, mostly because people don't behave the way we think they should."

What Microsoft dictate heard: "Other people are often a challenge, mostly because people don't bathe the way we think they should."

Is Microsoft's AI a closet clean freak?

Popped in cautiously to the-site-that-shall-always-be-known-as-Twitter today to see how reasonable people are reacting. And as always, they adapt, clinging to normal/habitual as long as possible. If it were a country I'd agree with not giving it up; but it's an owned property, and consent gives it power. This will cross-post from Mastodon, but it's my last tweet...hope to find the good folks elsewhere (& not on threads)!

Would you drink the glass of water on the left? If not, why are you still breathing in dirty air in poorly ventilated indoor spaces? 17/

Twitter
Power = control of resources; can you reward, threaten, punish? Power + ability to elicit willing influence means the power holder's aims can align w/others' ->ALIGNED power. Resource control w/o "volitional influence" ->MISALIGNED power.
Aligned power holders use associative tactics focused on mutual benefit, collaboration, and prestige to exercise power. Misaligned power holders use dissociative tactics--coercive, dominating, even abusive--to force their will.
I'm SO happy to share this paper, w/ @nate_fast@twitter.com (coauthor extraordinaire): Our new Social Alignment Theory of Power argues that power can take 2 forms: functional, constructive or coercive, dominating. This is known, but we explain why.
Hey @vercel_support@twitter.com @vercel@twitter.com you have an account impersonating spotify and phishing: spotify-au-alert. Please disable it immediately!
I wonder if there's any social dynamic more upsetting than having one's innocuous intentions misconstrued as sinister.
