In 2008 my Grandma said she wanted to see Passchendaele in theatres. It was an emotional experience: People cried, an ambulance had to be called, and my Grandma screamed at one point. When we got home, she revealed a pile of photos and documents related to our family’s service during the World Wars and talked about how her father was injured and the loss of her brother. None of us knew the papers existed before that point and she’d never spoken of her experiences. #RemembranceDay #VeteransDay

I got lost today reading responses to Linus Kline's survey about homesickness, the impulse to leave home, and the love of home in the 1890s. Some read like poetry:
"Could I only break away and go somewhere by myself where the sun is bright and warm and where I can hear birds singing, find a nice comfortable position and spend my time in day-dreaming, I should be perfectly happy."
