Comics fan in Dublin Ireland. Works in equality-based education, but views solely my own. Big Prince fan. Hope this platform takes off.
I don't think I like the "specific instances" system that Mastodon uses.
On Twitter, I can have Comics Twitter, Philly Twitter, Social Justice Twitter, Sports Twitter, whatever, all coming to the same place, but they have crossover and I can see all the little links.
Here, everything feels segregated. That's the opposite of a conversation platform.
I've been told you have to *seperately sign up with a new @* for every single instance you want to add to your not-Tweetdeck.... in another tab!!! So I guess I'll stay rooted here for now and NOT try out a few like you would on Dischord / Reddit / any other site designed like this one. Price of individual moderation - I guess?
How do I add different instances other than my home instance? Similar to how Discord channels work where I can add them to a centralised hub.
I agree with the issues surrounding gambling mechanics in full-price games squeezing everyone dry but its VERY Reddit that its most downvoted post EVER was about a customer service post about loot boxes in a star wars video game. Def the worst thing ever posted on Reddit, I am sure.
All my fandoms are v ultra mainstream so I feel like a normcore roleplay account whenever I have to fill out a bio on a new social media platform. Now I know how the coffee people feel
So let me see if I've got this... There are umpteen million instances that are our local timeline but we'll see posts from people we follow on our home timeline regardless of what instance they're part of by virtue of having followed them. Anyone know if I've got that right?
Trying to figure out instances be like

Hey I love the dedicated CW mechanic but I am not sure what I should or shouldn't include there. I'll err on the side of caution as a general rule but I don't post anything raunchy or gory in general terms on here no matter what.

If you see me use something you don't think needs a CW - I am not being flippant or making a joke, I am trying to make my feed as safe/secure on here as I can for folks with different triggers than me.

I am appearing on the Aim Down Sights podcast this Friday talking about gaming. We discuss the X-Box One X, E.A. swallowing up and spitting out smaller publishers, and (not to dissuade you all) there's 30 minutes at the end about my beloved Marvel Puzzle Quest.
In terms of what I'm playing lately, I've been dipping my toes into Elder Scrolls Online. I've never played an MMO before but it's a great way to acclimatise yourself if online multiplayer terrifies you - you can play the game as a mostly singleplayer game if you so choose as it's very story / quest orientated and it's still great fun.
