Under Trump, State Department questions Europe’s commitment to democracy

The dramatic shift has bewildered European officials, who note that the Trump administration itself has been accused of breaching democratic norms.

The #MurdochJournal editorial page may be having conniptions over Trumps tariffs, but it's still his extremist toady. Murdoch media is always odious.

It takes @jessearmstrong.bsky.social and Mountainhead to seriously consider the implications of TESCREAL and the insane faux philosophies of the AI boys because journalists can't bother to Google it.

Captured on video, the episode occurred in the congressman’s Manhattan office, shortly after the aide observed agents detaining immigrants outside a courtroom.

This is brilliant and it illuminates that slop, hallucination, and reading and copying others' stuff (just like the attention economy) is not an invention of AI or the internet but old media.

Let's talk about life before the internet. I had to buy newspapers and had few choices with less diversity (couldn't read the Guardian); was stuck with Hollywood's culture; had fewer friends; had less access to facts; had to pay bills by mail; had no public voice (well, I did when was a columnist).

This is true, at least for most issues. The reTHUGliCONs pulled a nice trick. They moved the whole field of left versus right to the right, so far to the right, they came out on the other side. Now, the far left and far right are both the authoritarian reactionary monsters that we all were once against....

@jeffjarvis I read the snippet and the reason they say why this is happening matches what I expected. The "left" as we know it today is more of a center-right coalition from the bygone era (think neoliberals), while the modern "right" is an ascendant political fringe movement more reminiscent of the fascist movements of old who view existing institutions as barriers to be dismantled or even violently destroyed so that they can get their way.
