@laurenshof writes about Mo-Me in the latest Fediverse Report:

"UK activist group Media Revolution has launched Mo-Me, a new fediverse client, in collaboration with the Newsmast Foundation. The launch coincides with the group’s “Media Liberation Day” campaign targeting billionaire media ownership. The pitch of Mo-Me is editorially curated channels, rather than algorithmic or purely chronological feeds, with Newsmast providing the infrastructure while Media Revolution handles curation and moderation.....

The modular nature of ActivityPub make it accessible for organisations like Media Revolution to not only criticise the current state of the media, but also present their own solutions. How this will impact their campaign and if people will start using the Mo-Me app remains to be seen. Mo-Me is available on iOS, Android and web."

Press coverage for #MediaLiberationDay and the #CoverStory campaign!

"Aplanned protest campaign targeting newsstands by activist group ‘Media Revolution’ has newsagents and major retailers on alert. Described as ‘Media Liberation Day’, the group urged people to disrupt the sale of national newspapers in stores on 5 November by covering up their front pages.

Organiser Liz Pendleton told other activists: “We’ve got this direct action you can get involved with straight away You can print out these cover stories and you can put them on top of newspapers in newsagents and supermarkets to call out malignant media.”

The group and its false front covers criticise that many newspapers have ‘billionaire owners’. It claimed these individuals abuse this power to “push narrow, toxic agendas” such as anti-migrant rhetoric and opposition to preventing catastrophic climate change."
