Very faint northern lights here last night near Minneapolis

Seeing "Retired" on that is neat and strange at the same time. I started working in 1978, writing COBOL programming for a local consulting company. I have not had more than 2 weeks between jobs since then, but I have taken a few 6+ week vacations. I have had only 3 major employers: Tektronix (10 years), SGI (5 years), and NetApp, Inc. (24 years). NetApp was my second career; I quit programming in 1999 to become a storage architect.

On to further adventures at home and in travel!

For 30 minutes once or twice a day my system goes catatonic with this seen on the task manager.

I cannot run anything but the mouse is active but useless. Anything I do is sort of batched up until it calms down.

I thought it was a volume shadow copy, but after increasing the size of that it still didn't fix anything.

Probably will just back everything up. Then I'll wipe it and install Windows 11.

Poor doggies - last evening from dusk was a constant barrage until midnight or so. The AQI shows the levels - nice rainstorm lowered things until 9ish and then we had all the booms and particulates creep up to unhealthy for a while. Other sensors around the region show the same. Sky was lit up and just a constant rolling explosion.
This morning was almost spicy!
BBQ/picnic area is coming along well.
Work up at 4am with an itch on my leg. Took this off before it could engorge. Fun! Every itch is now exhaustively researched. Joys of springtime in the Midwest.
