Just a PSA. See this thread [https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/1rs275q/psa_think_hard_before_you_deploy_booklore/] Sorry to link to Reddit, but not only is the dev sloppily using using Claude to do something like 20k line PRs, but they are completely crashing out, banning people from the Discord (actually I think they wiped everything from Discord now), and accusing people forking their code of theft. It’s a bummer because the app was pretty good… thankfully Calibre-web and Kavita still exist.

Upvoted for PBS alone. Incremental backups that are rock solid mean you can completely brick your server and have it back to normal in minutes

I ran mine for a bit and it’s a resource hog, fragile, and images are a constant problem because the cache just keeps growing and growing so either you keep a limited timeframe of user images or you pay for storage elsewhere.

I was the only user so I didn’t have to deal with moderation, but what finally spooked me was the possibility of someone posting something illegal and it propagating over to my server. That was why I stopped hosting my Lemmy server, too.
