I vote this year across the street from my house
A delightful surprise I learned just today
But what's the point when I'm offset by a louse
Ballots canceling each other with dismay
I grow weary of our pre-civil war game
Wonder if bloodshed is the logical aim
Then among the rubble we can at least claim
Democracy back from the burned-out flame
