@ed I never really looked at it, but I also kept my follows specifically low so that it was never an issue anyway.

It’s above Dunbar’s number but a lot of the accounts were just “people I actually know from somewhere who mostly just lurk anyway” so the active poster count is maybe half / 2/3rds of the total.

@ed one thing I’ve found that’s nice is if you have an account on a smaller instance you can actually look at “local” and see everything that’s being posted, without it being too overwhelming. But that obviously has an inherent scaling problem.

I think people would actually like “for you” type stuff if it weren’t pushed so hard over their stated preferences. If it were just a secondary tab you could choose to look at. Maybe just an opt-in flag on your account for whether you want to be included. 🤔
