但，到了晚年，當所謂「民族認同」變成他們最後的心理舒適區時，他們便放棄了相對費力的慎思與證據比對，轉而退縮到系統一的直覺、血緣與宏大敘事中。這種轉變在客觀上，就是一種智識上的懶惰，以及認知的退化。

Objectively, this shift represents a form of intellectual laziness or cognitive regression. They have ceased to be intellectuals in pursuit of truth and have instead become believers guarding an illusion. This explains why they turn a blind eye to obvious autocracy: because perceiving the truth would require activating System 2, a task that has simply become too exhausting for them.

However, in their later years, as 'national identity' became their final psychological comfort zone, they have abandoned the energy-intensive process of deliberation and evidence-based comparison. Instead, they have retreated into the System 1 realm of intuition, bloodline, and grand narratives.
