👋 Hello #fediverse! I'm going into a meeting at 4ET to talk about our newsroom's social media options.
If you think our station and other #NPR stations should have a Mastodon server or a broader presence in the #fediverse, pls boost this post. If you have thoughts, please reply, I want to hear them!
The kindest word I can come up with to describe NPR's response to Musk's visceral demonstration of contempt is -- feeble.
But remember, NPR did more than almost any other major news organization to normalize extremism after the 2016 election, and is still offering consistently false balance in its political coverage.
I would be glad to help NPR migrate its journalism -- and its followers -- to Mastodon. And there are many others who'd be happy to help.
Billionaires aren’t hoarding all the money just for them to be rich. They have more than they could ever use. The point is for you to not have anything.
Guys, we did it!
Thank you all so much! I’m over 1,000 followers and over the moon!
With the help of a complicit media star system, to which tech journalism was not immune, America let silicon valley bros and billionaires lead us down a road to social media purgatory. It was all new, so we just took what we were offered by a few market winners. But now, thanks to Elmo, Zuck and others, we know better. So let's not make the same mistakes all over again, now that we have a perfectly workable (if still evolving) Fediverse solution.
Evolution can be fun! Ask a former ape!
I gave up 15 years on Twitter and 22,000 followers. I used my anniversary to invite others to follow me to Mastodon, and I pointed out that every tweet is a donation to Musk. We know what he is and what he's doing. He gave Michael Flynn his account back on the anniversary of the Jan. 6 insurrection.
I started my #Twitter exodus as a boycott against Musk. Now, I'm thrilled to be here. I miss a few things, but Mastodon is just built better. I feel like it makes me (and you) better, too.
