In this clip, I tease him about the title of the book.

#OTD in 2015, the final episode of The Late Show with David Letterman aired on CBS.

Here is something I wrote in 2014 when Dave announced his retirement.

The new one from Annie Clark — aka St. Vincent. I’d only heard a couple of songs before I bought it, but so glad I did. She’s fantastic and unpredictable — naturally. #vinyl
Spinning this for the King of Twang, Duane Eddy, who died this week at the age of 86. #RIP #vinyl

The Doors - “Live at Konserthuset, Stockholm September 20, 1968”

How many more Doors live albums does one need? This one was a bit of a #RecordStoreDay2024 impulse buy, I admit. But, I will say, where most Doors live albums focus on the post-1970 “Morrison Hotel” period, it is interesting to hear a noticeably younger Jim Morrison and the band in full flight, arguably at the peak of their fame.

Couldn’t resist having a look at the latest #recordstoreday offerings and I ended up picking up a couple of things. The Dandy Warhols - “Live at Levitation” is a fun listen. I’ve seen these guys so many times, I’ve lost count. This does a good job of capturing that vibe. And the splattered vinyl is a nice touch too.

Blue Öyster Cult - “Ghost Stories”

Make no mistake, this an odds and sods collection, but producers Steve Schenk and Richie Castellano have done a great job of cleaning up these demo recordings. The covers — “We Gotta Get Out of This Place,” “Kick Out The Jams,” and an acoustic version of “If I Fell” — are fun too.

Finally giving this a proper listen — on #vinyl that is! What more can be said about the Black Crowes? Two brothers, famous for their bickering, bury the hatchet for “Happiness Bastards” — their first original studio effort in a decade and a half. The result is surprisingly good. “Wanting and Waiting” rekindles some of their old magic, while the slow and pensive “Wilted Rose” may just be the best thing on here.
Digging into the new Dandy Warhols. Never pleased to make the same album twice, the Dandies explore a harder rock sound with the appropriately named Rockmaker. Guest stars galore including Slash, Debbie Harry, and Frank Black. I like two or three songs so far. “Alcohol and Cocainemarijuananicotine” sounds a little like “Wonderful You” — which isn’t a bad thing. The Slash tune is good too. And the Debbie Harry tune is already growing on me. #vinyl
A belated 50th anniversary spin of this classic. #vinyl
