Concretely, "safeguarding" is the proactive work we do to prevent harm, whereas "child protection" is the reactive response. So when we're talking safeguarding, it's everything from clear policies and procedures, risk assessments/mitigation, education, teaching skills, raising awareness, etc. Everything we can do proactively to prevent harm. Included within the approach is "Child Protection", which is everything we do when we are made aware of harm.
