Battlebots Champions II begins on Oct 5 - Lemmy.world

The second season of Battlebots Champions (for the Golden Bolt) begins next Thursday Oct 5 on Discovery and streaming on Max! Are there any teams that you’re more excited to see or bullish on? I’m really curious on how the alternate teams perform in Champions. Many of them are brand new but by this point, they should have had enough test runs in the box to get up to gear. I’m hoping we have one or two breakouts from the alt pool that goes deep.

US Mobile Updates Plans With All-In Pricing, Adds New Unlimited Plan And Shareable Data Plans

US Mobile Updates Plans With All-In Pricing, Adds New Unlimited Plan And Shareable Data Plans - Lemmy.world

US Mobile has updated their plans so there are really only two tiers - Unlimited Plans from $25-50/month - Pooled Data Plans Both are now tax inclusive (about time), have higher throttling speeds when you hit your cap, and appear to have the same cut off point before throttling happens on their VZN and TMO networks. But they’re arguably a bit more expensive too now, especially if you used to be on a not unlimited plan. What do you think?

Heads Up for those with Intellectual Disabilities on NJ’s DDD Community Care Waiting List

Heads Up for those with Intellectual Disabilities on NJ’s DDD Community Care Waiting List - Lemmy.world

[Sorry for the possibly off topic post for most of you] If this title is you or someone you know: If NJ, the DDD, or the CCW Waiting List calls you and asks if the client with intellectual disabilities would like to be placed in a group home, that means (1) you’re at the top of the list and (2) do NOT say No. Saying No means you’ll be removed from the list. It is your right to use the CCW for increased funds to take care of said individual in the residence of their choosing – not just traditional group homes. So you can say: “Not a group home, but, I’d like to use the CCW in other ways, such as in house supports and services”. Insane amounts of information for anyone reading this wondering what’s going on - If you or someone you know has an intellectual disability that (1) began before the age of 21 (which isn’t the same as diagnosed before the age of 21 – just that you got it before 21 and any sane doctor would conclude yeah you must have got it) and (2) reside in New Jersey, you qualify for services from the NJ Dept. of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) once you are age 21 or higher. - Many folks in DDD get services via the ‘Support Program’. This is a program where the state gives you a modest budget and you can use it for services that meet your need. This can be at-home supports, day programs, career training, college mentoring support, health programs, etc. - A smaller amount of folks get DDD funding via the ‘Community Care Waiver’ (CCW) program. This is similar to the Supports Program, but has substantially more money in the budget. It’s higher so it can cover Institutional Care or Group Homes, but it’s not required to be used in that way. You could use the funding for more of those at-home or community supports. - The CCW has many waiting lists but the only waiting list that moves is the priority waiting list, triggered under certain conditions, usually about the parents’ health and age. Despite being the only waiting list that moves, it still moves very slowly. So it’s important to get on the waiting list as soon as you can and not screw things up. Hence why this situation is all sorts of jacked up that the CCW would be mischaracterized as being “Group Home” only and using that question to disqualify status once someone made it to the top of the waiting list.

Simple Mobile was the best selling MVNO in 2023 Q2

Simple Mobile was the best selling MVNO in 2023 Q2 - Lemmy.world

Simple Mobile led the way in sales in the past quarter. Following behind them is Ultra/Mint Mobile. H2O wireless has the fastest growth. Important to note: This survey only appears to survey actual independent dealers. So for example, US Mobile which only sells directly to consumers on their website, wouldn’t be eligible for this survey. So take it with a grain of salt but, are you surprised or does this check out with you?

Goldman Sachs Wants to End Apple Partnership, American Express Might Take Over - Lemmy.World

Can’t tell if this is a good or bad thing. American Express certainly is more well known for superior customer service, but they also seem to be less accepted at more retailers. Curious to see what comes out of this.

The Judges Guide - Lemmy.world

Now that this is a new Battlebots community, it seems fitting to christen it with a reminder on how the Judges judge matches 🙂 - Defense, Aggression, and Control are judged off a rubric table which assigns the score based on how the two bots did relatively against one another. Furthermore, it’s almost impossible to get a complete shutout 5-0 or 3-0 for any category. - Defense: You get more points for taking out a robot’s critical system, defined as either the primary weapon or its drive. When both bots critical system are equally damaged, it’s only then that the judges look at damage to the other parts of the robot. In other words, it doesn’t usually matter if a piece of armor hits the ceiling, but it does if a bot can’t drive or attack well. - Aggression: This is surprisingly complicated but in general, the robot who attacks the other bot more with its functional primary weapon gets the 2 out of 3 points. If both bots don’t have working weapons, it becomes “Well who hit each other more with the non-functional weapon?” or “Well who hit each other more?” - Control: Simplest one – whoever controlled the fight more gets 2 points. - Override for not using a weapon: If a robot has a functional weapon and does not use it in a meaningful way, it can NOT be awarded more than 2 control and more than 2 aggression points.
