Back in 2008, we did the best a bank could do.

We plugged our ears with wax and lashed ourselves to the mast to resist the distracting call of wokeness and diversity.

We appointed 12 white men to our board; the purest meritocracy imaginable.

It didn't work. We still failed, and crashed the global economy, plunging millions into poverty.

But at least the opinion columnists at the Wall Street Journal knew we'd done our best.
