I don’t get the logic of cutting off contributions of any kind unless they were actively sabotaging the projector something. Seems like that just makes the fork basically a guarantee. And in open source, a fork that discourages community is always going to be at a disadvantage.
That is only an issue in very small grids that are entirely renewables in one location. And the impact of AI on the grid has been much more problematic than any renewable sources because it’s localized and its is sudden spikes in usage whereas spikes in generation can be mitigated with battery and capacitor tech. Spikes at the usage side need to either be mitigated by the user or the grid has to implement mitigation at just those locations which is more difficult to plan for.

I didn’t say treatment wasn’t good. I said it wasnt something to cure. Just like black people might seek counseling for how to deal with the inequalities, autistic people need treatment to deal with the issues that society causes for them. I’m saying anything that’s saying Autism is something to be “cured” is hate speech. You’re saying that Autistic people like me should exist as we are, but change to fit society, just like saying a black person should change their skin color to fit in better. Autism is not a disease regardless of what companiea like Autism Speaks try to push. It is simply a different way of thinking.

So yes, is you’re one of the people specifically saying that Autism shouldn’t exist and needs to be cured that is pure hate speech. It you’re saying it requires treatment, then it depends on the specifics and thus my use of the word “most”. So it saying it needs a cure should be moderated as hate speech. But if no hate speech is being moderated to allow thing that aren’t hate speech that doesn’t make sense. If you understand what is and what isnt hate speech, then it’s easy to moderate bad from less obviously good or bad. It’s not a thin line.

Because most are saying that my existence is a disease to be cured and not simply a different way of existing. It’s like telling a black person that drug should be developed to bleach their skin so they can live more like the general public without a lifetime of prejudices. Autism only requires therapy to force us to act differently than our brains tell us to act. Not because oír normal way of acting is somehow self-destructive, but because it breaks social norms and makes others uncomfortable. The “cure” is fir other people to accept us as we are, just like the “cure” for being black is to accept them not change them.

Seeking LGBTQ+ friendly Lemmy servers. - Lemmy.World

So it sounds like Lemmy.world might be headed in the same direction as Meta in regards to moderation. https://lemmy.world/post/24135976 [https://lemmy.world/post/24135976] Although this post is not as explicit about allowing mal/disinformation about LGBTQ+ people as Meta’s, it seems to have the same effect of disallowing moderation of hate speech implicitly. So, anyone know any Lemmy servers that are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly or better, have explicit protections in place against hate speech against us as well as other minorities? I’m looking to move my profile.

I couldn’t care less about flat earthers. It’s the lack of moderation of hate speech that prompted me to leave Meta products. When the speech is specifically designed to harm others it’s a huge difference from just harming themselves and their willing peers. Allowing spreading that LGBTQ+ people are mentally ill or that Autistic people need to be fixed rather than accepted, or that all immigrants are bad people, those things are not just bad science (though that’s part of it). They are designed to have those people ostracized or murdered. That is not “respectful disagreement”. That is pure hate-speech, even if the person saying it truly believes it. It is detrimental to the community and if that is allowed here like on Meta now, I’ll happily leave as a proud LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent person among other things that current “political discourse” (i.e. acceptable hate) is being allowed to spread.

Be interested when they talk about things and ask questions. Engineers stereotypically have been told too many times that they need to dumb things down. And there’s a large percentage of neurodivergent people in software engineering who like to info-dump, but have been told their whole lives that they were boring or they overshare. But often when they are given the opportunity to share openly or even better, people show interest in learning, they usually will open up. It might take time, and it might take you getting a basic understanding of some technical topics so they don’t have to explain those basics to you to even start explaining their work.

I have worked as an analyst, product manager, project manager, engineer, and architect. So I tend to be really good at bringing business and technical people together by interjecting a few details that an engineer might skim over because it’s basic to them as well as interjecting business scenarios that a business person might consider obvious, but an engineer might get frustrates because it was never explained to them and they like to know “why”.

Not better detection and not tiktok in particular, better information available and less stigma allowing more people to out themselves. Same with LGBTQ+ and many other non-apparent, but taboo traits throughout history. As they become more widely aceptable, people can be out or at least people can better understand that these traits are not them being broken, lazy, evil, or selfish.
As long as that money is spent on public transit improvements, I think it’s a great idea for many large cities.
We took profit for decades from letting our infrastructure decay. Now we still want that same amount of profit, so you have to pay more for us to fix all the problems that should have been fixed with that profit money in the past.
