Oakland is daylighting the 27 X Telegraph intersection. But this time with poured cement islands, not plastic bollards like at MacArthur or 40th.
@dcseifert im looking to you for a verdict on the beta 3. For the first time In a couple years I’m actually excited enough to try a beta again

"It's still pretty unsafe […] Coming up here, a car did a uey across it." šŸ˜ž

ABC 7 coverage of the flawed Valencia center bikeway šŸ”½

Sharing facts: "There's another part of Valencia Street that has curbside protected bike lanes that have been proven to be exponentially safer."

The frustrating thing about all the twitter chatter today is what did Elon actually buy?

He didn’t buy the talent- he’s laid off like 70% of the staff.
He didn’t buy the code base - he said it was janky and wants it rewritten from scratch.
He didn’t buy the advertising business - his changes have only made them leave.
He didn’t buy the brand or brand equity - he killed the bird and the name.
He barely even bought the users - A pretty significant amount of the active tweeters have left.

This year we’ve gotten the multi-tinker, the globe haul and now an updated HSD https://www.ternbicycles.com/en/bikes/472/hsd

In the iphonofication of the cycling industry it seems we’ve decided on the small wheel short tail as the supreme urban utility bike form factor.

Our Smartest Compact Bosch E-Cargo Bike | Tern Bicycles

The HSD is a smart e-cargo bike with eFlow app connectivity and Bosch Smart System safety features like e-bike lock, anti-theft alarm, GPS tracking, and more.

Seeing as how the ā€œwhat if X was a Wes Anderson movieā€ was huge on tiktok a few weeks ago, NYC has the perfect opportunity to film ā€œwhat if X was a Steven Soderberg movieā€ today.
(Happy) Mars day, NYC. We know the struggle
Wear an n95 mask outside
Use Air conditioning (if it has a HEPA filter) or take a quick trip to the hardware store to build a corsi rosenthal box.
And if you can afford it, go all out on an air purifier. I have. Blue air and highly recommend the brand.

vision pro thoughts:

1. I have a feeling the whole point of gen 1 is to prove out eye and hand tracking / interaction as the next interaction mode. MKBHD's amazement at how well eye tracking works in the UX tipped me off to this.
2. I couldn't help but notice exactly what Sean wrote about, vision pro 1 is for sitting inside, not for being active or outdoors. https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/6/23751145/its-interesting-what-apple-didnt-choose-to-show
1. I assume that like the first Apple Watch, Apple is leaving the idea of what Vision should be open (but I guarantee the answer will not be a 300" iPad, otherwise there would be no point in all the groundbreaking tech.)

It’s interesting what Apple didn’t choose to show. - The Verge

We didn’t see the Vision Pro used for: Fitness, VR gaming, AR gaming, really any gaming you can’t do on a normal television, in a car, on a bus or train, at a sports game or concert, at a social gathering, to access the metaverse, to interpret the world around you, while a human is moving more than a meter per second, while drinking a beverage, or literally anything outdoors.

What the hell is going on with the Apple TV apps for chrome tv and web OS? If you pause an episode for longer than 15 min, they won’t remember where you were and you have to restart from the beginning again. Is it happening on all non apple device apps?

Happy pride bikeshare riders. The last thing I was able to accomplish at Lyft before the layoff with a small team of designers and engineers was a pride celebration for this year.

If someone still there flipped the switch, the next gen ebikes will play a little pride light show when you unlock them. Given what’s been happening at target etc, I don’t know if lyft will take the chance. But if they do, there’s no one left to manage social media for the citi bike, divvy, capitol bikeshare or bay wheels. So here I am saying keep an eye out and let’s all hope they are brave enough.
