I had some thoughts (and primary source documents) to share on the recent reporting about new 9/11 evidence by ProPublica and the NYT https://www.middlebury.edu/institute/academics/centers-initiatives/ctec/research-notes/still-untold-stories-september-11

The Order is one of the most-emulated terrorist groups in history and cross-promotes the even-more-influential Turner Diaries. The FBI was obsessed with rumors of a "Second Order" forming in the '90s. One did and may have been tied to the OKC bombing. Not just history but a template.
The movie might be sobering and a wake-up call for normies, but the trick is crafting it so it won't *also* be a hagiography of its subjects. The Silent Brotherhood, the book the movie is based on, had the same problem and is looked on fondly by a lot of WNs today, like these Stormfront posters.
Lawful Extremism | The Loopcast

Center on Terrorism, Extremism, and Counterterrorism's Beth Daviess and J.M. Berger discuss lawful extremism.  The papers that form the basis of this conversation: "Chinese Exclusion Act" and "Extremist Ideology and the Dred Scott Decision."

Screaming into the void

Screaming into the void Permanent link I stopped writing and talking about misinformation a long time ago. It was too hard to get the balance right.

This week's newsletter looks at our latest paper on Lawful Extremism and how the history of Chinese exclusion may be a preview of things to come

Lawful Extremism: The Chinese Exclusion Act

This week, CTEC launched the second paper in our series on lawful extremism. Authored by Beth Daviess and myself, Lawful Extremism: The Chinese Exclusion Act examines a racist anti-immigrant extremist movement that arose in the last part of the 19th century and successfully racialized American immig

Here's a look at the crisis narrative that led to the passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act. The victorious extremist faction explicitly argued that White racial identity defined eligibility to take part in the American nation-building project. Lawful Extremism: The Chinese Exclusion Act

The first paper in the “Lawful Extremism” series considered whether the 1856 Dred Scott decision that denied Black people citizenship and constitutional rights functioned as an extremist ideological text. This paper uses the same framework to examine the Chinese Exclusion era, covering roughly 1870-1943, and the anti-Chinese movement that traveled from the fringes to the mainstream, becoming the driving force behind the enaction of the Act.

New paper alert! John Chrysostom is a canonized saint and a Christian Church Father. He's also one of history's most influential shapers of antisemitic tropes.
