DEFEND DRAG STORY HOUR IN NYC!

Help protect queer spaces and expression under threat from the far right!

The far right has placed a target on Drag Story Hours nationwide, and New York is no exception. A group of violent, loud bigots, who have repeatedly harassed and invaded these events in the city, is openly planning to disrupt the next Drag Story Hour, on Thursday, December 29, at the Jackson Heights Library in Queens.

Queer community members and allies will be there to show the fascists they are not welcome, but that kids and drag queens are.

Let's show NYC's unwavering support for Drag Story Hour and for queer and trans people, and make a safe, encouraging, and joyful welcome for kids and their grownups as they enter the library.

BE THERE:
Thursday 12/29 3pm
Jackson Heights Library
35-51 81st Street, Queens (7 train to 82nd Street)
3pm
Wear regular clothes and a mask
Bring rainbow swag, non-amplified noisemakers, musical instruments, joy, and love!

I write the Seat 31B travel blog (https://www.seat31b.com) and closely follow the airline industry. More importantly, I have a friend whom Southwest abandoned in Las Vegas until New Year's (along with his cat), and there was literally nothing I could do for him. Ready? Let's dive in.

No one will ever call the Carpenters’ debut album a masterpiece, but it’s as listenable as anything else in their discography and the withdrawn youth-pastors-for-Satan artwork shades it with a sense of strangeness that one wishes was present in the music as well.

Anyway, that Bourdieu unit in my U.S. pop culture class is gonna get even spicier now that I have Tár to pair Five Easy Pieces.
Apparently those scenes were shot in Thailand (?!), though I have to ask: why go through the trouble of mocking up Tagalog signs if the Southeast Asianness of it all was meant to remain so unspecific? This is the sign for the place where she’s put up. It reads “Bahay Tulutan”(“house of allowance”—it’s a weird name, and I can only think it must be a bad play on Bahay Tuluyan, which is a Filipino non-profit org to help exploited youth).

Now I finally see why everyone wanted to know my specific response to Tár. It’s not for the lesbionic gender studies stuff, nor the Germanic location for a majority of the film, but (SPOILER BELOW 🚨 ‼️ 🚨)

She ends up in the friggin’ Philippines as a hard reboot to her fall from grace?!? I’m also offended about how everything online, including Wikipedia suggests these key concluding vignettes just happen “somewhere in Southeast Asia,” when Tagalog is spoken & Tagalog signs are posted.

Or maybe this is just my feed?
Does everyone on here tell you how/what to post, or what?
