Philosopher/economist. Professor of ethics/political philosophy; non-fiction writer; occasional activist.
The larger context: over the last 9 months I have been involved in 'The Extreme Wealth Line Initiative', that tries to take steps to empirically develop the concept of an extreme wealth line (this falls under 'co-creation', right??). Our ultimate goals is to construct a widely endorsed Extreme Wealth Line that plays the same societal role as the World Bank's Extreme Poverty Line; this is one step on that long and most likely thorny path.

Just launched: Testing the idea of an Extreme Wealth Line - a Report by the New Economics Foundation, sponsored by the UK Patriotic Millionaires. In this report, the idea of an Extreme Wealth Line is tested with key stakeholder groups, interviewing millionaires, politicians and policy experts across G20 countries.

Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Navigating (Diamond) Open Access Book Publishing: Four perspectives on how, why and where. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.

Are you interested in publishing your book Open Access, but you cannot pay the hefty Book Processing Charge (BPC)? Then Diamond Open Access Books might be the right route for you as no publication fees are charged to authors or readers. In addition, this model addresses inequality issues in which open access is reserved only for researchers and institutions with sufficient funding. Diamond Open Access is a more equitable alternative to commercial publishing as it is typically community-led and non-profit. The Diamond Open Access Expertise Center, part of the program Strengthening Diamond Open Access in the Netherlands, is organizing an online event aimed at researchers interested in Open Access Book Publishing. In this one-hour online session you will learn about 1) different models of book publishing (closed, green, gold, bronze, diamond),2) the New University Presses in the Netherlands that operate under a Diamond OA model, 3) the international Diamond OA Book publisher Open Book Publishers, and 4) hear the author’s perspective on OA book publishing provided by Prof. Dr. Ingrid Robeyns. We are looking forward to hearing all your questions! The session will not be recorded, however, the material provided during the session and one summary page will be made available on Zenodo.
