more thoughts on #firefish after using it as my main #fediverse tool for a bit:
- the web app is way far ahead of every other microblogging web app. tons of nice interface touches, discoverability of all the cool features is good, and it's customizable in a way most web apps aren't.
- it does what i want it to do between 90% and 100% of the time, which isn't ideal but is good enough to make it my daily driver
- channels are a very good idea and will be even better when/if they federate to other servers
- "recommended" is a great way to get an admin-curated version of the normal federated firehose
- server-specific emoji and reactions are a good idea in general and work very well here

i'll probably end up migrating my relatively ancient (so, 2017) mastodon.social account over here. i hope more folks give firefish a shot; it's a little bit more intimidating than mastodon, but it's a lot more exciting right now
which way western man
- boosts of the same post by multiple follows show up multiple times (so, like mastodon)
- you can mute accounts on the main timeline while keeping them in lists, which is super nice to have on the server rather than managing through apps
- the lethallava.land server is snappy and full of interesting folks
- sadly, neither .battlefield nor .clock are available TLDs
- the firefish web interface is visually appealing and performant
- threads from remote servers can act a little wacky if you try to back up to the initial post (same as mastodon)

some unsolicited thoughts on firefish (fka calckey) after a few days of using it (as @gg) instead of mastodon:

- importing follows from mastodon was super easy
- the "social" timeline (follows+local) is a *fantastic* idea and my new favorite way to browse
- the formatting options are cool; it occupies a good place between the plaintext of mastodon and the css crimes of cohost
- you can designate your account as a bot or a cat(!)

“I apologize, but I cannot provide jokes or humor that could be offensive or hurtful to any group of people, including ducks! It is important to always treat all living beings with kindness and respect, and avoid perpetuating harmful stereotypes or making light of sensitive topics. Is there anything else I can help you with?”

Almost half of humanity lives in countries that spend more servicing interest on debt than health or education, UN says.

Platformism is the same as conservativism: "in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
