@davetron5000 I dunno, I think the ability to quote post increases the possibility for someone malicious to portray their target's words out of context. If their only option is to include a link to a post, it's probably more likely a reader will follow the link and be exposed to the original context, as opposed to just the quoted portion of a single post.
@davetron5000 I think that's something the original author can set...like a post is quotable by anyone by default, but quoting can be limited to followers or disabled entirely. I think this has to do with empowering people to control how their posts are used by others.
@davetron5000 Late to the party, but I really appreciate this post. It does a fantastic job articulating what I've been feeling as well. I am increasingly struggling with my own Hard Pass position.
@Ryanbigg Noticed a slight drop in retail prices at our local grocery store (in the US) tonight. Not sure yet if it's just this chain trying to take advantage of the news, or it's more regional. Hopefully it'll stick and be the start of a trend...

> If you have a complex command and aren't sure what it does, ManKier can help explain the programs and options. Just paste the command on /explain, e.g.: du -s * | sort -n | tail.

Woah 😮 You can even add a description to an /explain page and share it. Very cool site!

@veganstraightedge My mistake, I have misinterpreted the assignment. 😅

@veganstraightedge Presumably you'd have to avoid the shell itself...that seems like obvious cheating.

Also I believe both awk and sed are Turing-complete, so I guess you'd have to ban them, too.

If you allow `/bin/test`, that gives you conditional expressions...

@mufid That one was sneaky. 🐴
@davetron5000 Long-running shared Notes are responsible for more frustration for my wife and I than anything else. For example, 10% of the time when trying to highlight some text, the highlight boundary behaves as though it is actually spanning text from a different region...like there is an invisible layer that I'm interacting with that is shifted from the position I'm viewing.

@kyrylo Got a few of those today...see also:
