Why does the instance make a big difference? I thought the point in federation is that the instance does NOT matter because everything shows up across instances? Genuinely curious and would appreciate if someone could explain.

I am sure you know a bunch of things about topics better than a lot of other people. Maybe you just think you don’t know it well enough. Plus, being into something doesn’t mean you have to be able to teach it to others, this doesn’t mean your dumb. When you get a chance, give yourself some grace, you deserve it! :)

I meant droidrec. Same settings for me but keeps crashing when hitting record. Audio recorder from f droid (white background with black microphone logo) seems to be working for me though.

I just tried that app and every time I try to record from mic only the app just closes when hitting the record button and it creates a 0 byte file. Does this actually work for anyone else?
